Heraldic Ranks and Titles in CaidIn Caid, the only heraldic titles which carry a rank are Crescent and Dolphin. For all others, the rank used is that of the current holder of the title. For example, Aurum could be the Aurum Herald, Aurum Pursuivant or Aurum Macer, depending on the officer's personal heraldic rank. Here is a more detailed description of the different ranks, and the College's policy on rank advancement. The ranks currently used in Caid are Herald, Pursuivant, and Macer. A herald is In Ordinary if they hold a territorial or staff position, and Extraordinary if they are "at large." "Herald" (capital "H") is a title, while "herald" (lower-case "h") can refer to anyone who is practicing heraldry. |
